- 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 1 large red onion (chopped)
- 8 cups of beef broth
- 2 tbsp caraway seeds
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb sliced kielbasa sausage
- 3 tbsp Hungarian paprika powder
- 1 cabbage . (thinly sliced)
- 4 garlic cloves (minced and smashed)
- 1 lb bacon (cut into small pieces)
- 1 lemon . (juiced)
- Sour cream (For serving)
Note
– If you want a more intense flavor, you can roast the garlic cloves and caraway seeds before adding them to the soup.
– You can also use sauerkraut in this soup instead of cabbage for a more authentic taste.
– For a more hearty soup, add some diced potatoes or noodles during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
– There is no need to pre-cook the cabbage.
– To make the soup thicker, you can use all-purpose flour.
